Chromatography

Aim: to use chromatography to separate out the colours in a texta

Materials:two textas, beaker, pencil, chromatography paper, water,

Method:
1. Rule a line in pencil 2cm from the bottom of the paper
2. Put a dot (dark) of texta on the line ( you may want to try 2 colours)
3. Set up the following

Independent variable: the colours
Dependent variable: how far the colour runs
Controlled variables: how much water, same paper, same position colours

Results:
The experiment showed that primary colours are pure colours and don't separate. It also showed that some colours don't run as fast as others.
